Our firm’s emblem features “Monte,” the majestic Montezuma cypress (Taxodium mucronatum) located in Abram, Texas, just outside Mission in the Rio Grande Valley. With an estimated age of more than 900 years, Monte is the oldest known tree in the Valley and is believed to be the second oldest in the State of Texas. This ancient landmark has stood through centuries of change, witnessing the rise of civilizations, including the Aztecs, and the enduring presence of Native American tribes such as the Coahuiltecans and Karankawas.
Monte’s enduring stature symbolizes strength, resilience, and permanence—qualities that reflect the foundation of our law firm. Just as Monte has weathered the test of time and remained a constant presence in the region, Griffith Law Group is steadfast in its commitment to its clients, providing principled advocacy and reliable legal counsel.
To honor this symbol, we commissioned a painting of Monte by local artist Jessica Monroe of Edinburg, Texas. Displayed in our lobby, the artwork captures the tree’s strength and character and serves as a tribute to the natural and cultural heritage of South Texas.
Inspired by Monte’s legacy, our firm strives to embody the same resilience, integrity, and endurance in our legal practice. Our emblem stands as a reminder of our commitment to excellence and to serving our clients and community with dedication and care.
